Santa Claus is from Lapland. He works in Rovaniemi and his childhood cabin is here in Levi.

Santa's office is in Rovaniemi situated on the Arctic Circle and you can take your photo standing on it.
You can visit Santa in his office at any time of the year, it's just a few minutes drive from Rovaniemi airport and 172km from the village of Levi. Santa Claus office is free to enter and you can meet Santa there. The elves will take your picture with Santa and you can buy it afterwards. We have visited Santa many times in his office and he even gave Gooseberry a sticker "Santa's little helper" that is now on his retractable leash.

Don't forget to visit Santa's post office and see all the letters coming in from all over the world. If you send a letter to ‘Santa at the North Pole’ or similar, it will end up here. You can also post a letter from there with the Santa's stamp on it! And you can order a letter coming directly from Santa (which we did a few times) to be delivered at Christmas to a child or an adult you specify. How amazing is that!

When we are in Rovaniemi, we often go to Santa's village, as there shops of 3 very iconic Finnish brands: Marimekko, Iittila and Pentik. Running a hotel, we always need something to buy there. But if we need to drive to Rovaniemi in December, then we avoid going to Santa's village, it's too busy for us. So if you want to avoid crowds, dont come in December. Santa is in his office all the time, you don't need to queue for hours (yes, this happens in December) to see him, just visit Lapland in other months.
There are also activities that you can do in Santa's village - meet his reindeer, go for a husky safari and much more, however in our opinion, they are quite commercial and set to the mass tourism of the place. Instead we recommend finding a small family run businesses around and book with them. Or if you travel to Levi after visiting Santa, you can do all the activities here. Please remember to book with local businesses this way you will support local community that lives in Lapland all year round. There are also several hotels in Santa's village to choose from but if you don't like crowds, you can stay somewhere calmer and just visit the village for a few hours trip.
